Yes. Cars with local drivers are widely used for sightseeing in and around Gangtok and for intercity travel across permitted destinations. The vehicle should be selected according to your itinerary and the access requirements of specific areas.
Can I book a car from Siliguri to Sikkim?
Yes. Travellers can arrange a private car from Siliguri, Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station to destinations such as Gangtok, Pelling, Ravangla and other permitted locations. Booking in advance is recommended, particularly during busy travel periods.
How many days should I hire a car for a Sikkim trip?
It depends on your itinerary. A 3–4 day trip may require a vehicle for airport/railway transfers, Gangtok sightseeing and a Tsomgo/Nathula excursion. A 6–9 day itinerary may benefit from a multi-day vehicle covering Gangtok and destinations such as Pelling, Ravangla or North Sikkim.
Can I travel from Pelling to Darjeeling by car?
Yes. Pelling can be included in a Darjeeling–Sikkim road itinerary. Travellers can arrange a private transfer between the destinations and combine the journey with other stops if sufficient time is available.
